Tea tee oil is proven to be more effective than chemical insecticides - 21 August 2009
Fight Head Lice with Natural Tea Tree Oil!
For many young children, going back to school is a daunting time and getting head lice is one of the things that they could do without.
It is difficult for children to avoid getting head lice as the lice tend to pass on from one person to another during direct head-to-head contact. This is more likely among children as they play closely together in the school playground providing head lice with the ideal opportunity to travel from one head to the next.
If your children do catch head lice, there is now evidence to suggest that tea tree oil is a natural and effective remedy in treating head lice over chemical insecticides which are so commonly used these days.
Research at the James Cook university in Queensland, Australia has quoted that ‘tea tree oil achieved and maintains a 90% kill rate over a three hour period compared to just 82% kill rate when permethrin, as common insecticide was used’.
The research has also proven that because tea tree is so successful in this subject, it will also help to prevent head lice from laying eggs on the scalp initially. This is great news as using a natural remedy on our precious children is invaluable. Rather than using insecticidal chemicals which tend to leave a toxic residue on the hair and scalp, this is a very gentle way of beating the lice and also preventing them.
Why not try adding tea tree oil to our children’s organic gentle Lavender Shampoo and our organic children’s Conditioner? These can be used in combination with the ‘Bug Buster Kit’, which has been recommended by the Department of Health.
Make sure to inform all your family members, your children’s school and their parents if you do come across any lice on your children’s scalp.
