Eczema is now the biggest
Skin Condition facing Children
A recent study involving 123 dermatologists carried out by the
British Skin Foundation has revealed that 88% believe childhood eczema has
increased to such a level over the past three years that it has now reached a
“problematic scale”. The study also shows that levels of eczema in Britain are
among the highest in the world. Similar research by The International Study of
Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC) backs up these findings by showing a
worldwide increase in eczema, especially in childhood.
Prof Hywel Williams, a spokesman for the British Skin
Foundation, said one of the reasons for this growth could be an “increased
disruption of the baby’s skin barrier from cleansing products”.
Eczema is common to babies and those with young delicate skin,
not helped by the daily bombardment of toxic chemicals and irritants found in
everyday products such as household cleaners, shampoos, hand washes and of
course the multitude of skincare products used on babies, with up to 60% of what
is applied to the skin potentially entering the blood stream.
Organic Babies offer a comprehensive range of Certified
Organic, Natural, Fairtrade and Scent Free products which are ultra mild, gentle and suitable
